What would you tell your younger self?
Discussion
Something I've been pondering this morning - if you had the opportunity to go back in time and tell your younger self something which might change the course of your life for the better, what would it be?
I'd personally go back to the age of 15 / 16 and tell little me to go and become a mechanic, rather than do the whole university thing. Although I might have also gone back to my early 20's and told myself not to hook up with the harlot I wasted several years with!

You are good enough, just be yourself.
ETA: I, like most teenagers, wasted far too much time and energy trying to figure out how I should be in order to be more popular and more well liked, and it was during my 20s that I finally realised how futile that was- and fortunately it turned out that people like to spend time in the company of people who are being themselves and are comfortable in their own skin.

Take health and fitness more seriously.
That's a good one - and I expect a lot of people will share the sentiment.Harry H said:
Stuff the expensive cars, booze and loose women and buy lot's more property.
For me this could be shortened to; listen to your old man.HustleRussell said:

This is very true - I do find that it's easy to overlook how much one has accomplished and I don't deny I've had a pretty epic life thus far (if I say so myself) - the popularity thing is definitely a killer though, more youngsters need to remember not to live to appease others.ETA: I, like most teenagers, wasted far too much time and energy trying to figure out how I should be in order to be more popular and more well liked, and it was during my 20s that I finally realised how futile that was- and fortunately it turned out that people like to spend time in the company of people who are being themselves and are comfortable in their own skin.

Don't keep acting the gent around women you fancy, it will get you nowhere. Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen...etc.
Don't sell the CRX V-Tec with 27k miles, you won't find anything better for a decade.
Funny you should say that, one of my close mates' biggest regrets is selling his CRX V-Tec!Don't sell the CRX V-Tec with 27k miles, you won't find anything better for a decade.
Eat healthier, exercise more often. Avoid getting fat - far easier to get into good shape starting at zero rather than starting from behind. Similarly its far easier to put together a good level of savings starting from zero rather than from carrying a debt. Hence avoid slipping into fatness or into debt as its doubly hard to reset to zero.
Whilst on some of the body shape vanity, be conscious of fashion and accept a level of vanity. Women do not like slobs. Equally don't look in shop windows or take awkward selfies. Women may appreciate groomed but not the outward display of vanity.
Treat 'em mean keep them keen resonates too. I spent my 20's trying to do what I thought was right toward women. I spent most of my 30's being an arse. The success rate during the latter was a million miles better.
Don't be so afraid of swimming against the tide. The life script that you accept when you are young is manufactured. Be realistic, but dare to dream and don't think the path you should follow is the right one just because parents, peers and culture says you should.
On a personal level, instead of moving up the property ladder in my 20s I wish I had instead added several small apartments to my own "home" first apartment and built up a few low cost high yielding properties and then rented my own house. 2 bed/2 bath city centre flats generally yield well, large rural homes yield crap and also give the owner plenty of maintenance to pay for. Rent the latter, buy the former and let the former pay for the latter...
Travel more.
Be bolder. The adage "its better to regret something you have done than something you have not" is entirely true IMO. From quitting a job to giving a woman your phone number. Don't wake up the next day thinking "what if".
Value your parents/old relatives. It's amazing how soon you age and they pass away. Treasure the time with them.

te and a big regret. If I had a decent windfall, I'd have the lot out and a decent set of implants.
