GT4 Tripping noise meters at donnington
Discussion
Hi all
as mentioned above I had a track day there on Monday and managed to get 3 black flags even with the exhaust valves shut!!!
I was told I was 2db over at around the 100db mark, managed a few more outings by lifting on the strait but then got pulled again.
Are there any after market bolt on devises for the standard tail pipes or a home made mod I can do?
I see fabspeed have bolt on pipes but you have to be running a fabspeed rear box and I don't want to change the standard box.
any help would be appreciated
thanks

This is probably someone on Pistonhead's car:

It was posted on Rennlist where they were all figuring out how to not get thrown off Laguna Seca.....their noise police equivalent of Brands Hatch!
The good news for you is the poster wrote:

The owner tells me it reduced UK track static test (75% max revs tested at 45 degrees from exhaust outlet at 1 metre distance) to 92db from I guess 101/102db."

Usually GT4s are OK at Donington (probably famous last words seeing as I'm there soon!
)....but you do need to keep away from the wall on the start/finish straight and also avoid having a play with other cars because two cars passing the meter close together will trip it.
I too am interested in a solution as mine didn't last long at Zolder before the noise police stopped play. A quick bolt on would be nice so that it could be done at the track. I believe the one on Ravon's car above takes a while to put on/remove so is a bit more than a simple bolt on job.

thanks for the comments gents,
im at brans next week!
can I expect the same amount of grief regarding noise? I was fine at Snetterton all day with the exhaust open.
looking on the fab speed site there solution is simply some pipe extensions pointing direct down to the ground, the ones above are a serious bit of kit in comparison.

These are nice and £228… the only issue is you need the rest of the Fabspeed system to mate them to!

Funny to hear one's post on a USA site quoted back. It was posted on Rennlist where they were all figuring out how to not get thrown off Laguna Seca.....their noise police equivalent of Brands Hatch!
