I'm not one of the people who subscribe to the whole cable quality 'thing' and spend a fortune. I went on to Amazon thinking there would be a simple way of ordering a roll of cable, but no, there's so many choices!! I just want some new surround speaker cable.

There's measurements of the copper cable, there's measurements of the cable and insulation - 0.5mm to 4mm

So PH Hi-Fi experts, your brief is;

30 metres - white
Amazon
£15 max

Is this sufficient? https://www.amazon.co.uk/MANAX-speaker-cable-mm&#1...

Try https://www.futureshop.co.uk/speaker-cables/custom...

You can buy the exact length you want. They’ll strip or add connectors if you want.

I've got the amazon basics cable, it's very good quality for the price and at £18 for 30m is a bargain IMHO!

Suggestions appreciated, but the basics stuff isn't white and the QED cable on the other site starts to add up as the run is 14m and that's over £22 then add delivery.

I could even get two of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/0-50mm-Speaker-Wire4U&#17...

I've used the pink version for years, great stuff & great value.

I don't subscribe to the quality thing with cable either, would never pay megabucks for some cable but 22 quid hardly seems excessive to me. Perhaps you need https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bulk-Hardware-BH01468-Sta...

Are you installing the cable, in walls etc? Or just running it loose?

Loose to start with (or pinned round the edges) and then dependant on flooring after renovating the place it may be wedged under the skirting board. It's a concrete floor.

Worth noting that these cheap cables are copper plated aluminium (CCA). Not sure if it makes much difference, but seems like a bit of a con to me.

Yes - I was always under the impression that oxygen free copper was the thing to look for - budget may be blown by using either this stuff or the QED stuff suggested earlier.

I'm impressed by the choice of name - mister hifi laugh

Sadly not currently available, but I bought this stuff https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philex-Speaker-Cable-2-Co... to run speakers in my local Village Hall

I used 1.5mm T&E mains cable (not flex) in my last house. I'll be doing the same here when I get round to refurbishing the lounge.

I used Chord Clearway on my build at home. Probably makes no difference, but thought spending 4 figures on speakers, then "good" shielded cable to go with it makes sense.

Especially as even the "expensive" (£10pm +) stuff is only a couple % of the original purchase price of the rest of the system... Plus if its stocked you can buy off cuts (rather than off the reel) from Richer sounds and pay £5pm for it instead of the £12.

So I saved by having a it split into shorter lengths rather than cutting bits off myself. Obviously, measure twice/cut once applies.

Any 2.5mm oxygen free copper will do.

I've used Shark for both my speaker cables and interconnects:

If you are burying it in walls of a building you need to be aware of the new regs for cables.

CPR Compliant, EN50575 for Construction Compliance.
