Looking to get a Will in place for the good lady and I.
Situation is slightly trickier in that we live outside of the UK but will likely return in the future at some point.
Married, one kid, + one on the way
Sold all property in UK
So, just cash and investments as assets
The wife seems to think Which offer a good service for setting up a UK Will.
Has anyone here used their service?
Alternatives are to go direct to a solicitor (circa 500 quid) or are there other options (online) that we haven't considered?

If you have assets outside of the UK, which seems to be the case, you should consider a local will as well as UK. The IHT rules overseas can be highly complex and may well have an impact on things in the UK.
Following that then look at the UK side of things as well. Ideally with a firm that understands both sides of the coin as it were. Don't scrimp on the costs on this area of planning. It's not worth the heart ache to your family.

Standard situations can be catered for by standard solutions.
I'm just about to sort out Wills with the wife but we will use Legals as there is a fair bit of Business Ownership, Holding Company, SiPPs, BTL Property, Commercial Property etc.
Tbh the Shareholder Agreement will take care of much of the business side anyway.
What there is very little of is cash and traditional savings accounts.

I need to sort out something similar. Did you find it straight forward to find a solicitor who could handle this competently? Do you mind me asking the ballpark costs you have been quoted? I was thinking it was likely to be around £1,000 but I'm not sure if this is a good estimate or not.Tbh the Shareholder Agreement will take care of much of the business side anyway.

Most decent practices will have someone who specialises in this area and you really don't need to overthink it unless you have lots of more esoteric investments.
Upon death your Shareholder Agreement should 'sanitise' your business interests (can't think of a better word at the moment) so thereafter it boils down to understanding that your estate can be dealt with like many other estates, just with a couple of extra noughts at the end.
If you procrastinate (like me) and end up doing it in November, a large number of solicitors will do a mirror will for a £150 donation to charity
