Just a thought really. I went to Norway this week, which included a hop from Norwich to Amsterdam, which was a 40 minute flight.
I was wondering if there are any shorter?

I'd guess the Caribbean has this record, load of small countries really close together.

I did Nairobi to Kilimanjaro which took about 20mins from take off to landing (timetabled to take an hour)

Road journey is about 5 or 6 hours.

More locally, Birmingham to Dublin didn't seem to involve any sort of cruise was either climbing or descending.

I know it's not international but, quite a speedy one is the Loganair Westray to Papa Westray route.

It is the shortest scheduled passenger flight in the world. Flights are scheduled for one and a half minutes, actual flying time is closer to one minute. The record for the fastest flight is 53 seconds!

Grand Cayman to Jamaica is pretty swift. There used to be a flight from Bahrain to Saudi on 747's that was under 50 miles!!!!

Dublin to Isle of Man is pretty short.

Cork-Belfast or Shannon-Belfast are shortish ones.

I'm not sure it would occur to me to fly between Northern Ireland and Eire

I'm not sure if these routes are still flown but back in the 1970s Aer Lingus did operate Shannon-Belfast and Cork-Belfast flights.

Cork-Belfast is over 200 miles.

Good friend of mine is one of the pilots on that route, it was on a TV holiday show once, with him flying.

A quick Google shows that 2 years ago, it was just 8mins, which was then a new route between St Gallen-Altenrhein in Switzerland to Friedrichshafen in southern Germany.........but I can't find evidence that it's still operating today.

There are definitely, as said, some short hop international flights out in the Caribbean, Sint Maarten (Dutch Caribbean) to Anguilla (British Overseas Territory) is just 12 miles.

Shortest intercontinental regular scheduled flight appears to be Tangiers to Gibraltar by Royal Air Maroc which is only 43 miles....!!

Rotterdam to London City & return seems to be about the 35 minute mark. When you're on legs that short, time waiting to land/take-off can be longer than time flying, on a Heathrow to Manchester or Leeds/Bradford run, you probably spend more time driving round West London than you do in the air.

Years ago, I flew from Tangier, Morocco, to Gibraltar and back, can’t remember how long each leg took, but it seemed like 15 minutes in my memory, probably longer.
I flew by seaplane from Grand Bahama to Miami, about 190 klm., but we did a stop in Bimini, it seemed to take forever, because they go for miles on the water building up take off speed, and it seemed to be doing about 100 k.p.h. at around 350 m above the Caribbean.

I came back from Amsterdam to Norwich and we spent 25 minutes getting from the gate to the runway then 40 minutes flying...
They still came round with biscuits!

I had a project in Rouen and Air France regional would do Rouen - Le Havre - Lyon.

The first leg would take 15 minutes and then we'd head South to Lyon.

Back in the 90s I flew from Dhahran to Bahrain a few times with Gulf Air. It was quicker to do that than just drive over the causeway! I think the whole flight took 25 minutes, but most of that was climbing and then almost immediately going into circuit to land.

The queues on the causeway could easily add three hours to the 'quick drive' over. As far as I know, the civilian airport is no longer at Dhahran but about 40 miles further away.

I'm not sure quite how 'international' it is, but Jersey to Guernsey is listed as 20 mins but it seemed less than ten minutes when I did it years ago
