Tiger GRRRRRRR

Been running it a week now and no problems. All my apps work fine, including Flash, DW, Quark, PhotoshopCS.
The Spotlight and Dashboard features are excellent and Safari 2.0 is lots faster.
Looks like I might have to commit to a whole system rebuild if I want everything to work - I was hoping to avoid the 3 weeks it will take to reinstall everything.
That's the problem with being a jack-of-all-trades.

Just ordered a Mac Mini with Tiger, seeing as its my first Mac experience, it should be fun :-)
Ordered mine weeks ago and had forgotten all about it until it turned up this morning.
Anyone want to buy a G5 20" iMac (the new ones)? Its a serious question - the Mac Mini is to replace it.

Have you tried doing an archive and install instead of an upgrade?

Yup - tried to upgrade and almost nothing worked (including Quicktime 7 and iTunes), then tried the Archive & Install - Quicktime and iTunes work along with most apps.
I've got a blank 20gb partition on the start-up drive so I may do a new Tiger install and check the applications to see if they work before spending all the time reinstalling about 250 apps (don't ask - they're all used at least once a week for various old jobs from old clients who won't upgrade)!

I genuinely feel sorry for people who have to/choose to use windoze.
I don't. Although it can be a nice operating system, its got tons wrong with it. Its a shame it has so many things wrong with it as that was one of the major advantages it had over windows.
Apple seem to have been loosing the plot latley.

I'm not in any camp when it comes to which one is better or whatever but the MAC can no longer do anything that windows cant. You can get a PC that looks like a MAC, cheaper than a MAC and most importantly has 100 times more software.
The old nonsence about XP/2000 been unstable is rubbish when XP is used properly with proper signed drivers and software.
The only place that I can see a MAC having a advantage these days is the fact that it does not get the problem of spyware/adware/virus etc which can still be easly dealt with on a PC by using proper protection.
Apple needs to pull its finger out and use the inititive which has got it so well respected in the market instead of just making a operating system which looks slightly prettier but with 10 times more bugs
