personal injury claim without going through firm?
Discussion
Was in an accident a couple of months ago and got bumped around a bit. Nothing major - black eye and whiplash that had me on light duties at work for couple of weeks (and damaged my helmet). So I'm not chasing a big claim and I despise the ambulance chasing lawyer culture anyway.
So went to an accident management firm that had a few good reviews and bloody hell they didn't deserve them.
I must have gotten the slightly retarded intern for my small case as she keeps sending me the documents to sign and I check them find mistakes and get her to correct (and I mean significant stuff like 3rd party address). And they have been sent and corrected 5 times and still not right. I'm getting pretty pissed off. And I bet after all that they will charge serious money for poor service (not to me but all the same...)
Is it possible/practical to just do this directly through the 3rd parties insurer. They still haven't admitted liability although I have pretty clear crash footage from my dashcam which I'm confident shows me to be in the right (although no one seems to want to see it!).

I do love constructive advice. I guess I could just replace my smashed helmet myself and pretend I didn't get put through a washing machine at speed. But no its not compensation that repulses me but legal pricks trying to weasel they're way into a percentage without doing a fair days work.Anyway for those curious I would attach footage but I'm not quite sure how

So you want somebody to do the work on your behalf for nothing and you take all the money.Edited by Luke2152 on Friday 10th August 09:33
Sounds like a plan to me

Have you signed any engagement letters with the people who are representing you now? If so, you are kind of locked in.
The time to deal directly with the third party would have been at the beginning of the claim. They have dedicated teams to deal with settling third party claims and have access to repairers, hire car companies and medical expert who can provide remedial treatment and people who can provide “independent” reports. This is what a lot of people are worried about. The fact that the paymaster are instructing their own expert for a valuation.
In any event, stick with it and see how it pans out.

Thanks guys for the constructive (and non constructive) info. Ive not signed anything so will try and deal direct with 3rd party insurers. My own insurer is dealing with my vehicle. As for the dashcam, on reflection I'd rather not post it publically. But for those curious, i was midway through overtaking another vehicle when it moved right without indication (presume to overtake also) hitting left side of my vehicle rotating me 180 degrees before hitting me again from the front and sending me through a fence.

You could try to claim compensation direct from the 3rd party insurers but they would probably say no but thanks for asking, close the door on your way out.So then you would need to take the other Party to Court. If you know enough legal stuff you could do this on your own. Alternatively you could pay a Solicitor to do it for you. If you're successful you could reclaim the legal costs as well as your compensation. If you're not then you're out of pocket re: your own solicitor costs. That's the benefit of using an AMC - they provide a packaged one-stop shop, they specialise in compensation claims, and they work on a pile it high/sell it cheap business model. It's crap service at best and illegal at worst but if you want a no-win/no-fee compensation claim they are usually the easiest course of action.

He was wearing a helmet so either that or he has an aero screen 7 type car or similar. Probably why he's reluctant to post the dash cam footage.
Correct. Was not a trackday but a 7 type car where I always wear a helmet.I have had two in the past but full windscreen, loved them both.
