Hi, hope someone can help. Went to fill up with fuel yesterday and, while the fuel filler flap opened OK, it now won't close again. Pretty embarrassing driving along with that flapping around aimlessly in the wind!

It seems that the little retaining bolt has retracted as it should, but then refused to pop back out. I've tried puling the manual release in the engine bay (I know that's to open the flap!) to see if that might prompt some action, but no joy.

Anyone have any ideas?

You could try lubricating the locking lug with something like WD40 and then pushing down on it with a screwdriver o to see if it will release.

Thanks Trev. Yeah, should have said, gave that a go and it won't budge.

Got another long drive tomorrow. Might have to be sellotape for now!

In that case it could be the solenoid that operates the release mechanism which is probably a job for the dealer.

Solenoid went in my R8 V8. Total pain in the balls. Not sure about Spyders but for the coupe it was relatively simple to change - take off the side blade and follow the bolts to undo / swap over.

Thanks for the replies chaps, that's what I feared. Doesn't look so straightforward on the Spyder, unfortunately. Oh well! Have a good weekend all
