987 rear lamp cluster

Hi,
I've just noticed that the red paint coating on the offside rear lamp cluster has started to flake off, probably been left in the sun too long. I've looked on ebay and see that you can buy clear tape to effect a repair.

Anyone got experience of using this stuff. I am assuming the lens can be easily separated from the cluster so is it possible just to buy a new lens?

Hi, this seems to be a common problem on both Caymans and Boxsters. The price of £170+ VAT, was that Porsche OEM? Thanks, Phil
