Our A3 Audi is due to go back early next year, its service indicator states it will literally be due a service/inspection on the return date, as long as 1/2/3 etc days left on indicator I don't have to service it? Can you leave it back a month early, they still charge last month or can negotiate in advance? We will be a 1000 miles under the agreed total mileage too.

Also do companies allow for return of cars to their depots?

VWFS allow voluntary termination for 55% of the remaining monthly payments.

Thanks for that, I'll make plans in advance and get it sorted.

As long as you don't go over the service indicator interval you'll be fine to return it early. Loads of VW leasers do it.

I'll keep a close eye on it, just in case (like your petrol gauge), when you go past 1/2 empty it seems to go down much quicker, so will likely build in a months cushion period, I'm not very familiar service indicators as only having driven older cars over the last 15 odd years.

Here's a question, if it's flexible interval and someone with VCDS puts the date back a month what do they do then?

Nothing I presume?

Vcds? Is that illegally changing the interval?

Assuming they can't detect it was changed, suppose in a court of law its the servicing equivalent of turning the mileometer back!

Mine went back with service warning on and on inspection they didn't say anything.

Keep your mileage down looks like the best option.

Ok, would have thought they'd have hit you with a fee, the mileage will be well below the contracted 20K over the 24 mth period.

I’m in a similar position. 12 month lease on a Peugot due to finish on the 25th of August. I will be 2k miles under allowance.
Not keen on paying £174 for a service I’ll get no benefit from!

Peugot hard to speak to and getting pied on emails!

Safe enough to stick it back couple of days early? I reckon it’s worth the risk
