Sorry Mods, i really wasn't sure where to list this!

I'm after a used large steel cylinder, ideally, around the size of say, a shower or bath-tub, to get it re-made into something else.
It's a bit of a pipe dream currently, but i don't really know where to search for such a thing, (or what to search for that matter), other than on Ebay or gumtree?
What would be ideal is a huge gas bottle but i don't think they go any bigger than 43KG?

I want to use it to convert into a big smoker/BBQ, hence wanting something that is quite thick!

thanks in advance smile

Getting a MS sheet rolled and welded wouldn't be very expensive, if you know a fabricator.

2x 45 gallon drums welded together then cut to length would be the best option as single 45 gallon drums are already used for bbq's when cut in half length ways

I have a lot of mild steel and stainless steel pipe off cuts at my works, I’m in Manchester.

You need some 36" schedule 10 pipe. Speak to some piping stockists and see if they have any ends. e.g. https://www.jbpipeline.co.uk/

Another thing. if you use anything that has ever had any flammable materials in it be REALLY careful. cursing or welding can cause nasty accidents if there is an enclosed volume. Like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI_xXA6623A

Thanks guys, weirdly, a water bowser was something i'd looked at, i've found one locally, but it only has a tractor tow type, so i can't get it home!

Ideally, i want to eventually mount it to a trailer, so the bowser is definitely a good shout.

Size wise, probably around a metre diameter, although slightly bigger wouldnt be an issue, nor would slightly smaller, up to maybe 2 metres long, we could then (i say we, whoever i get to fabricate it), build a firebox off of it out of steel.

No problem, the centre pipe is 2mtr long and is rolled sheet tack welded on the seam.
The pieces either side are mill standard weight api5lb pipe and are welded seam.

Many years ago I worked in South Yorkshire and one of the big scrapyards there was Booths. They had a guy who was tasked with cutting empty old Cylinders up that came from BOC, unfortunately he got mixed up and cut into his own acetylene bottle which didn't take too kindly to the treatment. He was killed outright.

Cutting into anything that has had any flammable fuel in is something to be avoided.

Just got to be sensible, easy way to do it is unscrew the top, and then fill with water. After that you can cut freely, either gas or grinder.
