Short throw projectors (Sony LSPX-P1)
Discussion
I am looking at a short throw setup for our living room at the moment for movie nights etc. (No gaming or regular TV usage - but will be connected to an Apple TV)
I’ve done the whole dedicated cinema room thing before with 3gun projector, separates, THX, etc... and just want a nice neat simple setup for more regular usage now.
I have seen the Sony LSPX-P1 (https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/projectors/short-throw-projectors/sony-sxrd-hd-projector.html) which seems to fit the bill perfectly, it doesn’t need to be 4K or anything and I’m fine with the 720 from a box that’s only 30cm from the wall to keep it nice and neat. I’ve seen these from between £900-£1k which I’m fine with too.
Does anyone have any experience of this Sony or am I missing a trick with another make/model of short throw??

Sorry, don’t know about the Sony, but we have had the Optoma GT5000+ ultra short throw projector (just over a grand from Costco!) for about a year now.
Superb!!
Not 4K, but we feed it Virgin media, DVD, or Nintendo switch for the most part: very immersive, and saved plumbing in a more permanent ceiling pj that MrsMikeiow did not want! We have a surround amp and speakers, not full ATMOS, but works well for us.
One weird thing for us is that during most films, the connection stops, then immediately starts again. Just once. I need to try a different cable sometime.......very odd....I could make it a random ice cream break, I guess, but it is back on immediately!
With these projectors you do need a very flat surface: any imperfections are exaggerated. We picked up a tab tensioned screen which works great.
