The poo came off ok but all the splatter marks remain as a “shadow” which nothing tried so far has shifted. Last big white hope was Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound Colour and Clarity Restorer but hope was short lived.....

It’s black metallic paintwork on a Vantage S....

Any help gratefully received....

I've got a similar mark etched onto the roof of my V8V too. Bird poo is slightly alkaline so munches away at paint/clear almost immediately.
Some heavy polishing will be required along with some sort of protection reinstatement afterwards so it might be worthwhile delegating the job to a professional.

I had something similar a few years ago. Autoglym Paint Renovator sorted it out in the end.

Make sure you re-wax afterwards though.

Thanks Legless. When you say re-wax would the wax applied by jet after washing be enough or is this a more focussed application? Of what exactly?

Tried clay bar? (I have a tendency to use it with Autoglym Rapid Detailer), even after washing bird crap can leave a residue behind.

As far as bird excrement goes I generally have a small bottle of simoniz car wash tucked up under the stairs, a drop in a mug with hot water then kitchen roll and soak the st off (no rubbing) as soon as I get home, avoids the worst predations of bird droppings.

Just to edit - I would imagine something a bit more focused, I hand wax with Simoniz Orginal wax after a clay bar (and application of Bilt Hambers Auto Balm) rather some spray on applied either by hand or by machine would be best.

Daughter had a metallic black SEAT Ibiza and that had a huge splodge across the bonnet which left a faded area. I'm not into detailing and the only thing I had to hand was T-Cut which didn't touch it. Neighbour gave me Autoglym Paint Renovator and it got rid of it easily - I have to say it feels very aggressive compared to T-Cut.

Sounds a bit silly I know, but get a hairdryer on the bird poo etching, and watch it disappear.

Now that would be a result! Seriously? Might be a while before I can get her close enough to a power point but definitely worth a try!

I'd give the hairdryer a go first. If that doesnt work, give Megs Ultimate Compound a go.

So I thought the hairdryer trick was working but it was only a trick of the light....it wasn’t.

Since then I’ve been to Halford’s and bought an armoury of products. But it’s been raining, so except for a very quick experiment with Megs Scratch X20 (no luck) it’s still crossed fingers for something that works.

Had a similar problem a couple of months back myself albeit with a Renault Clio that was splattered and removed same day (after 1/2 a day being baked on). Tried lots of things, tcut etc to no avail. Remembered I had some G3 scratch remover which with a lot of elbow grease did the trick.

Any compound will remove it, Farecla G3 being my go to product. Used on a DA or sponge pad with some elbow grease.

I wouldn't have believed that hair dryer trick until recently

I had a courtesy vw golf and it had the biggest bird st land on it whilst i was at work. When i got home i cleaned it off but it left a big mark. Weirdly thought when i took it back a couple of days later it had gone! This was when it was really hot, so that's the only explanation i have
