hi guys

i'm looking at buying my first car which will be used so this is all new to me. i've driven a company car years ago but not owned my own car. i'm 47 and have a budget for the car of £2500.

Citroen C4 1.6i 3dr
Volkswagen Polo 1.4 3dr
SEAT Ibiza 1.4 16v Sport 3dr
Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec 3dr
Suzuki Swift 1.6 Sport 3dr
Suzuki Swift 1.3 GL 3dr

or any other suggestions?

i'd love the citroen. it is in there for the style and that would be my first choice but appreciate it may not be the best overall choice!

For a budget of £2500, you should be buying based on what is least likely to break and lowest cost to fix when it does rather than desirability/handling/speed/looks etc. History and condition would be more important than anything else, but of your own suggestions, I'd go for the Focus. Other good reliable mid range choices might be Volvo C30, or V40, Honda Civic, Toyota Auris, or most mid range Japs.
