In a world being politicked by Trump, Johnson, Mogg, Brexit etc, expect more of this insanity. Of course, the engines could always be serviced in a slightly more stable country such as the US or UK! I wouldn't send a glove puppet to be serviced in Turkey...

It seems to have snagged an arrestor cable (just visible in the pic) - perhaps accounting for the increased force on the nose wheel. Hope the carrier versions are more robust...

The wire seems to be snagged on the rear - maybe they have actual arrestor hooks? I imagine catching a wire has the effect of slamming the nose down more violently than usual.

The pilot reported an in-flight emergency before landing the F-35A Lightning II just before 1 p.m. Wednesday. After the plane was parked, the front landing gear collapsed.

USAF is looking at scaling back the number of F-35s they buy, and are looking at cheaper alternatives such as an updated F-16 or something of similar capability

Which is somewhat ironic given one of the original remits of the F-35 was to be a cheaper and more cost effective replacement for the F-16....
