Apologies if this is in the wrong place!

To cut a long story short, my wife and I ordered a brand new Audi A6 in April via a lease company (she does very few miles, so it makes sense) and as a lot of you will know, it seems Audi made a hash of their engines and last week, we had an email to say that Audi had cancelled our order, apparently due to some issues with WLTP that means their cars can't be registered.

Is there anyone who's been in the same situation/has any advice? We can't really be without the car and clearly did not expect it to take this long or for there to be these issues (in which case we would have ordered another car). I'm sure Audi's legal obligations are water-tight, but are they obliged to provide us with some car in the meantime?

For what it's worth, we had an email from the company about 6 weeks after the original order in which they said that the car had been built and was on its way to ship, so can they cancel an order if the car has been built? Why do they cancel the order instead of just altering the faulty aspect of "my car"?

Thanks in advance for any help

I'd just have a look around at what's available to lease at short notice.

I would expect that audis right to cancel an order is pretty water tight. At risk of reputation alone but that's at risk due to new emissions laws anyway.

I might be forced into that, or even buying one from a dealer forecourt with a few miles to knock the price off, even though I did really want the new A6, but if they can't register any of them, waiting however long is probably not doable

I'll sit down and give the terms a proper read later but I'm not hopeful.

Thanks for the response

What's your wife driving now? Can't you just use that until you find something else?

If it's a premium German marque you are after BMW by me have a 0% offer on pcp just now on new cars. Usually I'd steer clear of pcp but 0 finance is 0 finance whatever way it's bundled together.

Not sure if this extends to other dealers.

Offer seems to include most the range.

I've not heard of delays or cancelled orders from them.

530d is a great car, perfect alternative to A6.

We sold her old car shortly after the order because we didn't expect it to be 20 weeks+ with nothing, knowing that over the summer, the wife could share my daughter's car. But due to the time it's taken/the cancelled order, it's soon no longer a viable option for them to share

Could be worth trying to get something out of the dealer. I would think you'll have more chance of success if you order something else through them.

I managed to get a "loaner" a few years back when they found a buyer for my trade-in before my new car was ready.
