just been trying to run a quick ad on facebook,

its not something we normally do but thought we would give it a try.

what an absolute mess of a system

9 emails back and forward to support because our advert wasnt approved and all we kept getting back was it doesnt meet facebook standards.
eventually find out its because it should all be in caps. Lower case letters are not allowed in facebook ads except on the words Facebook and Instagram

who on earth comes up with this crap?

We've took a client and part of our consultancy was to assist a bit with this. WOW how bad is it and how good does it make Adwords look

On the facebook phone app it puts adverts in to your timeline. I keep reporting them as spam and blocking the sender, as does pretty much everyone I know. I don't know if it gives you a choice between the unobtrusive sidebar adverts and the really annoying timeline adverts, but if it does, don't be the company everyone blocks.

At least by the sound of it the OP hasn't encountered their power editor yet, or whatever they call it now. Try running multiple ads on there and see how quickly you want to smash the screen. Never had this caps issue though, unless it's yet another new change.

That said every time I use it we make decent money so there aren't many people blocking the ads. It must take longer to report them than scroll past ffs.

I was intrigued by this and just checked with our FB advert guru (manages over 10 clients ads) and its news to him - he thinks you had too many words as this triggers an unexplained rejection.

Run a lot of FB Ads and lowercase text is fine?
The only issue I've ever run into is if pictures contain words, anything more than a label/title and it's rejected, even then usually fine with a manual review.

We have run lots of facebook boosts recently, certainly not all caps, and have done very well out of the adverts too, paid for themselves 10x over in total.

We use it all the time, lower case fine.

The issue with images is when when more than 25% of the image is text.
It is a stupid rule as it stops you from designing really nice looking adverts that get over the detail you need.

Often people take in info in an image better than some text written above.

The Power editor though is a crock of ste.

Facebook advertizing platform is an absolute shambles, I just cant understand how these multi national, multi billion pound companies with the recourses they have, can not come up with a simple user friendy tool to manage ads! And thay are also changing it making it even worse, hate it!And their targeting is also crap

Surely that's saying you're allowed to write 'Facebook' but not 'facebook'?

That would make a whole lot more sense.

Did you use the words ‘facebook’ and/or ‘instagram’ somewhere in your ad?

I'd guess so, with a small letter. Mind you the FB guy can't spell violate, so not sure he's any judge of what's right and what isn't.

This...the message you posted from FB says it's the words Facebook and Instagram that have to start with uppercase. Maybe paste your ad text into this thread and see if the PH masses can spot the problem.

You're not allowed to do a like, share and tag promo either. Just like.

But if that was the reason they'd say so. It's pretty clear it's to do with the capitalisation of Facebook. Somewhere. Have you got different ads set up, i.e. in the various attempts you have ended up with several versions of the same ad, and one of them has the error?

And fwiw I wouldn't bother doing a draw for something unrelated to your business. It attracts the wrong punter, ones who are into Kevin Bridges, rather than ones into airport transfers.
