T350 purchase.
Discussion
I am looking to buy a T350.
An ad had appeared today in classifieds of more or less exactly what I could be after.
Except no air con.
Can anyone help me, is air con needed in the T350?
Does the cabin get very hot?
Please help as my search for the car I am after is becoming very difficult.

90% of people say it is needed for residual value. having it is probably personal but for condensation in the winter and the heat in the summer i would say its definatly needed. its a £2000 plus vat retro fit from tvr so if you factor that in the price you shouldnt be to far off the price of one with (on some cars). haggle a good price with this in mind and go for it if you feel you cant live without get it fitted. youll love the car anyway....
Until today I would of said no. However as soon as the weather is warm very little air seems to be able to get in the cabin even with the windows down. Now my answer would be definitely YES. Also don’t forget re-sale. If you're thinking twice about one without aircon so will the person you are trying to sell it to when the time comes.
Got to disagree with everyone here. I was in exactly the same situation, found a spot on car with no A/C and bit the bullet. I've driven through winter and the warm days we've had so far this year and not missed it at all. To be fair the aircon isn't that good anyway. True it affects residuals now all the new cars have it but strike a deal and go for it is my advice. Oh and retro fit is just under £2k inc VAT so if you really want it that's the damage unless you can get the VAT back in which case you would get it for about £1.6k. The dealer I bought it off offered to do me a deal whereby he claimed the vat back and basically passed it on to me and this offer still stands but for £1.6k it's still not worth it IMO.
As a Tamora owner we regularly use ours because the car is just too hot with the heat soak on warm day. For example at the weekend we were in Normandie. Spent 6 hours with roof off and were both too knackered to drive any longer with blazing sun. So on went the roof, on went the aircon and we sat in cool calmness with the aircon on with an external temperature of 27c. Interesting the car temperature gauge was showing 47c.
Personally I would not bet against the aircon for these situations, but then I have it and can not imagine life without it.

Sorry Damion,
But i'm afraid you are wrong in saying that a T350c don't need aircon.
I see also that you have only had yours for a short while, and i have now had mine for just over two years.
Having been in a 20 mile tail back for the British GP,
Sat in slow moving traffic in the parade of the pilots at LeMan's last year, and 4 hours waiting to get out of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Believe me you do need air con!!
Mine works fine, so if yours don't, then i would get it checked out.
Dave
Not sure I agree.
I have aircon, and have now had the car for just over a year.
I hardly ever use the aircon, as I normally just turn the vent down to cold & open the windows. Suppose its personal preference.
Its nice when its really, really warm, but how often is that in England ? not very often.
If you've seen the car you want & it doesn't have a/c then get it. If you find you want it then you can always have it retro fitted.

I don't use my air-con much - especially as mine's a targa. The dealer has also made heat-shielding mods that have improved the heat soak from the gear-box.
Saying that, there are occassions where air-con is a serious benefit, sun, traffic, and 'enthusiastic' driving play a major part.
The major drawback you will have is selling the car at all. TMS had a nice spec Cerbie RR without a/c and really struggled to sell it.
You could alawys see what the cost is to back-fit a/c, then consider allowing for it in your offer.

A/C is an absolute must IMO.
Especially on long journeys when it rains - you will cook in the heat with the windows closed and the condensation is a problem.
I really cannot imagine living without it.
Have to agree totally, it can get really hot in the cabin in summer, used mines alot last summer, especially if your sat in traffic. Also adds to appeal when selling
So what sort of temperature does the A/C get down to? Should you actually get cold air out like any other car I've had? Used mine for the first time this w/e but it was cooler to wind down the windows and turn the A/C off!! What goes wrong with the system? I can only assume mines losts coolant whilst sitting at the dealers and not being used.
cgibson - sounds like yours is bust mate, the a/c should produce cold air, it is more than just a glorified fan.
mine was broken when i picked it up 2nd hand, i think they said the pump had gone (i also spent a few weeks thinking it was just cr*p but the dealer noticed it when i was having some other work done and fixed it). it had also been sitting unused for a while i think...
