I can't really help you but living in the US (in LA) means I get to sample a ton of variety of Mexican beers.
I have to admit, that most are very light/flavorless affairs, even the darker ones.
You've picked well with the Modelo, probably the best of the bunch if you can get it in the UK.

Modelo is a pleasant beer as I recall. It used to be sold in a burrito shop on London Wall (City of London), where O'Neils pub used to be.
I haven't been around there in a few years now, but the fact they sold it should give you hope that it's available.
Yes, this was the stuff: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Negra-Modelo-Beer-335/dp/... (out of stock)

What's so special about Mexican beer? Will be lager, in any case.
Peroni Gran Riserva, surely?
Gran Riserva is ok, certainly not my favourite tipple. If I've got a choice, it's Warsteiner every time. I'm not sure where to suggest for Mexican beer imported from Mexico, as the expense of posting alcohol is exorbitant if sites like Beers of Europe are to be believed.Peroni Gran Riserva, surely?

Pacifico Clara is a fine Mexican lager. My tipple of choice at Wahaca.

I always pop my head in places like Home Bargains and B&M and check what beer they have. They often get exotic stuff in cheap. Had 4-packs of Pacifico Clara for £2.99 and I've had Modelo Negra 6-packs for £5 from there too. Also had Phuket Lager and one from Colombia.
I always like to beer-match my food when I can.

Wouldn't happened to have been Tres Cordilleras (3 Cordilleras). The Mestiza is one of the best lager style beers I've tried. Never though B&M stocked beer though.

I've just checked, it was Aguila.
Not all B&Ms stock alcohol.
Damn, I was hoping to get a Mestiza here in the UK. Aquila is one of the cheapest beers you can get in most bars in Colombia. Not all B&Ms stock alcohol.
I've always found it funny how expensive a cheap beer from other countries can get because it's imported (I.E. Singha from Thailand, or Bintang from Indonesia).
Worth trying 3 Cordilleras if you get a chance though.

Also, apologies if I've derailed the thread about Mexican beer, as a bit of an beer aficionado I'd also like to know where I can pick up unusual foreign beers.

Dos Equis was my first pick when in Mexico. Happy times!
I used to sell it about 20 years ago.sol must have outsold it by 100 to obviously popularity does not guarantee quality. Had a tough time selling desperadoes too. People would buy the occasional imported or real ale alongside their regular stella.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
