Product liability insurance
Discussion
We have started selling an electrical item (inverter) which is from an EU supplier and is fully CE certified and of high quality. It is low voltage (12/24 volts) and requires customers to wire it into their existing systems. It's a pretty simple device really with easy to follow instructions.
Due to the nature of it being electrical I was wondering if product liability insurance is recommended. I'm not worried about the item being dangerous as it's so low voltage but a user could install it incorrectly and damage their equipment etc.
I am quite risk averse though and was wondering if I should have some sort of insurance on the product. As the supplier is in the EU there should be rights of recourse with them in the event of a faulty product.
Any advice would be great. Thanks!
