Import from Northern Ireland - DVLA Inspection

I’ve recently bought (most of) a car via Northern Ireland, where it was originally sold and registered - it’s largely complete and original, but minus its engine and gearbox.
The vendor applied to the DVLA for a V5 (it was part of a deceased’s estate and came without any NI documents); it still has its original chassis plate and NI number plates and presumably exists somewhere in the Northern Ireland DVA’s records - now the DVLA have requested to inspect the car.
Anyone have experience of this?

As others have said it's to verify that what you have is what it claims to be rather than an assembly of parts added to a random ID plate.
The frame will have other ID marks which the inspectors will check .
I have seen vehicles that have been imported to the country that certainly weren't the same vehicles that left the manufacturers assembly lines .
All had bogus ID plates that didn't match the numbers in other parts of the cars .
This often muddies the waters with competition vehicles that have been re-shelled or extensively repaired or upgraded over the years .
