further to my post tuther day, my full beam, windscreen washers and indicators have packed up again (though they were working this morning). and oo oo, and just before they packed up, when i pressed the high beam button, the windscreen wipers swished.

but, unlike last time, they don't seem to have magically fixed themselves this time. checked fuses 18 and 15, and they're both fine, any suggestions gang?

if it helps, i pressure washed the car at the weekend and the problem has sort of been around since that time, but maybe thats just a happy coincidence?

id really appreciate your help gang, i cant see out, i cant see from the lights and no-one knows where I'm going. two out of three of those are not normal for me.

thanks in advance guys

thanks jeremy c, good man yourself.

god, i hope this means i dont need to disconnect all those little plugs behind the wheel again, those things are about as much fun as pulling teeth to replace

Hi Nerv, yep I'd go with the ribbon cable. I've just replaced mine for the 2nd time in 5 months. It's only a 10 quid part, but what a PITA.

1) Remove TVR badge from centre of wheel
2) Loosen the centre nut (but do not remove completely - to save your teeth later)
3) Wiggle (the steering wheel you fool)
4) Once loose, remove centre nut and the wheel should come off.
5) Replace cable.
6) Reverse procedure.

But at least it aint as bad as
i) Putting a nice ally dash in
ii) Putting clear indicators in

have fun

I've got to do this too, anyone know how best to remove the glue that's holding in the end of the ribbon cable into the boss, really don't want to damage the pins.

Thanks

Tim

Nerv - I just knew that any problem with your car had to involve the nut holding the steering wheel.

Have you changed the cable? Why not pop along to the mid essex meet this weekend, I will take a look for you ,if you like.

If you have changed the ribbin then it could be the control box I guess.

thanks folks, you're all so great. and i really walked into that thing about the nut holding the wheel didn't i? top, top gag though. quite made my day. got tea on my keyboard too, which means, oh no, ill have to stop working while it dries.

OK, I'm gonna have a look at this later, any ideas if the ribbon cable is a part thats common to other cars so that i can get it elsewhere or will i have to suffer going to my local dealership to get one (three months in, still waiting on a touch up stick)(and a touch up for my stick). failing that, any of you good people know somewhere that sells them off the shelf?

thanks again y'all, really appreciate your time
