12 months / 20,000 miles - Minimum depreciation - A3?
Discussion
After some advice. I do up to 25,000 miles per year. I need a car that I can put 25,000 miles on in the next 12-14 months and sell without taking a massive hit.
My current idea is: Diesel Audi A3 tend to have strong residuals. I get a 1.6 Diesel Audi A3 2014-2015 (current model) which comes with Sat Nav, DAB, Bluetooth at about the 45k mark. And then sell on with 65-70k on clock in about a years time.
Thoughts?
Budget is 10k. Any other suggestions welcome. I’ve ruled out Focus/Mondeo. From previous experience I’ve found difficult to sell as there Is sheer abundance of them on market.

Doing that kind of mileage I'd personally go for something a bit bigger, and more comfortable than an A3.
For the sort of mileage you plan to do I would do one of the following:
-buy newish (as per your own description) car and look after it religiously, only get rid of it when it finally dies
-buy something with already high mileage (can still be new) so you adding further high mileage won't dramatically change it. Should be cheaper as you can factor that into your buying cost.
Buying/selling cars on an annual basis will never end well from a financial perspective. Unless you really buy well and wait it out for the right offer you will always lose money on selling cars (unless rare or classics, or very cheap etc.)

Budget wise is good for what you are planning as the overall percentage drop won't be massive. I've done similar with my Q7 as I increased my commute earlier this year. If you buy around 50k miles and sell around 70-75k in 12 months time it should work well - i'm expecting the depreciation on it to be minimal in comparison to the level of car I get to drive for that period.
I cover a fair few miles and change my cars yearly or sooner. I have only lost money on 2 (out of 35), I buy cars between 1-2k.
Buy a well looked after car on below average or average miles, run it for a year or longer then sell with average or slightly above average miles and repeat.
I've personally found buying older cars to be better for this as even if you have to scrap it you don't lose so much money.
An old Saab or Volvo will do you well.

Go for a 1.6d Kia Cee'd 4Tech they hold their money really well & you'll still have a chunk of the Manufacturer's Warranty left (which will help see it find a new owner) & still have low miles, they come loaded with kit which will help it move on.
