Budget 4k TV decisions/recommendation
Discussion
Hello all,
Our TV has given up the ghost so I'm looking at a replacement. I have no real idea what's best between manufacturers, do I need a Samsung or Sony or will a cheaper brand like LG be fine. What would I be missing?! It has been 10 years since I've bought a TV. The choice is baffling.
Budget is a modest £500 or less, we're limited to 43" by room and furniture size. We watch bogo programming, Virgin and netflix HD films and occasional blu ray. We have a sound bar already.
Can anyone offer a recommendation for best bang for our buck, please?
(Currently looking at RicherSounds or John Lewis for length of warranty.)
Many thanks

This seems well reviewed, and well under budget.

I'm interested in this also. Currently have a 40'' Sony from 2010 in the living room. I can either buy a 43'' for the living room and move the Sony to the bedroom, or just buy a new 40'' for the bedroom.
Main concern is that a budget 43'' set wouldn't be any better than the Sony we have now which was mid to upper end when it was new.
I saw that LG offer but internet research suggests budget LG sets are not "genuine" 4K sets. Then again, it's very cheap!
Another option is Hisense.

I found myself in an identical situation at the weekend (10 year old TV died, same budget to replace it, same size requirement). I got a replacement from Richer Sounds because of their extended warranty and competitive pricing (plus I like shopping there and always find the staff helpful). Your budget of £500 is enough to get a 43" 4K TV from one of the well respected brands, so unless you want to spend less I'd be looking at the LG 43UK6750PLD or Samsung UE43NU7400, both at £499. You generally get what you pay for, so if you can afford it why go for a budget option?
With a cheaper TV you may find that despite the headline specification being the same i.e. 43" 4K, other aspects might not be so good e.g. build quality, screen brightness, consistency of back lighting, contrast/black level, colour rendition, viewing angles, stuck/dead pixels if a lower grade of panel is used, sound quality, motion interpolation, responsiveness of TV interface, input connections, smart features etc. There's a lot that could differentiate a cheap TV from a more expensive one.
