Weight loss, sugar drinks?
Discussion
Iv lost around a stone and half in a couple of months and all I can think is I am no longer drinking cans of full fat pop. As far as food goes nothing has changed, I still drink a lot of beer and my physical activity has not changed.
Since this sugar Tax came in and Mcdonalds charged extra for full fat coke (Hence crap diet) I have been drinking a hell of a lot of water and an occasional Diet Coke/Zero. Infact I have gone off bicarbonated drinks. So could this be the cause of my weight loss? I was never a massive pop drinker, maybe a can a day so it don't add up.
Anyway something has changed. I used to have a very physical job and since I changed jobs I had at my worst put on 2 and half Stone. Now im about a Stone shy of what I used to naturally sit at 8 years ago? I dont weigh my self often and only really noticed because my jeans/Trousers where starting to fall down
Anything I should be worried about health wise?

Seems excessive weight loss for such a minor change but I wouldn’t be surprised.
The average blood glucose concentration is the equivalent of something like a teaspoon of table sugar in your entire blood volume. A single can of cola will dump about nine times that amount straight into your bloodstream. That’s a lot of glucose that needs to be shifted into your cells or turned to body fat, and if you’re not particularly insulin sensitive, there will be lots of the latter going on and less of the former. Additionally, while your insulin levels are elevated trying to shift that glucose, no other fat burning will take place.

I understand its a lot of sugar but it still don't add up. I have tried diets before but I respond very well to physical activity like running, swimming, circuits etc. Trouble is other then weight training I no longer do phys and I pretty much have not done for a fair few years. I like my mountain bike but that's very low burn compared to running etc.
The best thing is. im noticing my confidence return to levels I used to remember so I really want to go further with this weight loss. I eat rubbish food and I know deep down I can make better changes. Beer levels have not changed either I can easily do 8 plus beers on a Saturday especially on football days and easily 6 beers on Fri or Sunday. I know I can change so much but I enjoy what I am doing thats why the weight loss is a big surprise.

I used to take creatine but i found it was mainly water retention even though in my opinion it seems to help and also makes me look a bit more defined. Vitamins I dont use, protein again used too but no more. Amino's iv never used. I am just casually weight training now nothing like I used too but that change was over a year ago so cant contribute my weight loss. As I said before its amazing what a little weight loss can do for confidence

I Lost 8 stone by just calorie counting but lost a hell of a lot of strength as I wasn't lifting. Have put some weight back on by lifting now.
only supplements I take are BCAA tablets, multi vitamins and Creatine powder.
That weight loss is an absolute amazing achievement.only supplements I take are BCAA tablets, multi vitamins and Creatine powder.
fizzy pop is just the worst, instant energy, nothing whatsoever to slow the calories as soon as it;s in the mouth, and it's an appetite accelerant. Not difficult to see why fast food joints give free refills (in the US at least).
It's the best thing anyone can do, simply to cut out pop. Full sugar ones also have artificial sweeteners in too, nothing can be too sweet!
