Whilst in Bath last night i stumbled upon two young lads photographing a stunning 7 series.

Always fancied one to go along side my e39. Got chatting and he said "It's only a 728i". So what, it looks fabulous.

Of course after 10 minutes chatting, the missus gave me "the look". Wonder if anyone knows this car...

E38. Shame about the comically oversized wheels and slammed suspension.

It looks good since they are just BMW wheels from another model

They're lovely cars. My uncle has a really nice example, a rare Sport model and one of the last (51-plate) but, sadly, it too is a 728i. Still a superb thing though.

What a nice looking car though.. and if the oversize wheels and and Stance offend the purist , well possibly that's a shame.
Love it , and love the fact that these handsome old smokers can still be enjoyed smokin

For me, the E38 is possibly the "rightest" looking BMW.

It still bothers me that the 728i gets a bad rap. I had one, as well as a 740, and it is unfairly maligned.

As an all round car, it was superb. A super-smooth 6 cylinder that is as frugal as it is refined and has enough pep to deal with the vast majority of driving situations. You could sit at motorway speeds with a low revving engine and enjoy a quiet conversation.
It didn’t hitch up it’s skirt as quickly as the 740 but the reality is that it didn’t have too. It’s a 7 series and is a more sedate place to be.

That said, I did turn hooligan in it and it proved to be just as capable on the Nordschleife as it was on the daily commute. Cocking it’s leg a Castle Donington and dispatching actual ‘track cars’ proved to be an eye-opener for many, too.

Brilliant cars and I still miss mine to this day.

IMO the best looking E38 is the one from Tomorrow Never Dies.

M Parallel wheels, Decent colour and Amber indicators.

Apart from that annoying scene demonstrating reinflating tyres where the wheels had mysteriously changed to Style 25s...

Never noticed that before. It's been ages since I saw it.
