Have a gym at work but I have done a full days work before I can get in there and getting slightly teddy tired eyes!

Was considering pre-workout but have heard of health downsides to using them, so are there any which are safer?

Have a strong cup of coffee - doesn't need to be any more dangerous than that.

never known any to be unsafe really, bar the now banned ones with dmaa such as jack3d/mesomorph.

You can get stimulant-free pre workouts. no idea how effective they are?

my current is cheapest pre-workout from ebay with a decent dosage of caffiene, add in 6-8g citrulline malate, seems to do the job but i do miss aps mesomorph but can see why it was banned.

I've tried the Reflex nutrition pre-workout and cant say it does much for me really- certainly feel no different than if I had say a banana and a coffee half an hour before training.

But then I am 47 and knackered so id need some serious st to give me a real kick!!

Even the banned ones are safe, don’t worry. I use dmma & caffeine (@50 &400) and haven’t died.

Off the shelf ones just have lots of caffeine, and some other fluff.

A coffee and banana smoothie sounds tasty.

Always though pre workouts were a waste of money. Just drink a coffee.

Only pre workout that ever did anything was Jack3d that pretty much, 15 minute into the workout, made me feel like my heart was somersaulting around my chest. Every other pre workout, even with 4x times recommended dose had zero effect on me.
