Up until a few days I had advertised a kit car I was selling via car and classic but decided to remove the ad. However, just through searching for similar kit cars on google there was a link to a site called Auto Classics where, surprisingly the car I was selling on car and classic (and nowhere else BTW) was listed. Though no photos the description of the ad was there. Are car and classic passing on details to third parties?. I wouldn't trust any "free" advertising site.

Or is the other site just screen-scraping to look busy?

Free advertising! Really don't see the problem.

You don't have to trust the 'Free Advertising Site', only the prospective purchasers interested in the car and that applies wherever they saw the car advertised.

Have a read through the Car & Classic T&C's.

If they are the ones that have passed on your advert, then you would have invariably given them permission to do so.

As others have also said, the other advert may just be an unofficial screen scrape of your original ad.

I still occasionally receive emails from folk wanting to buy my old Vincent - I sold it about five years back. I cancelled the ad's I put up, but it's obviously still showing on other sites. The enquirees usually mention a site I've never before come across. It would appear to be true that once on the 'net it's there for ever more...
