Consolidating 435i and RRS TDV8 - what car?
Discussion
Finding myself using the RRS more and more due to needing the space, but dynamically it's no fun and I'm missing using the 435i, it's no supercar but with a remap, ACS springs and exhaust it makes work related miles quite fun.
I'm looking for something, and I'm guessing it's an estate, to replace them both. Absolute maximum budget £35k.
Obvious choice is a very recent 340i Touring and I've considered looking at getting into an X3 M40i but other than that, any ideas? I'm concerned both of these would be like driving the 4 series, but not as fun and with the same interior and actually a change might be nice.
I'm not averse to something older and having run older Range Rovers I'm more than willing to spend a bit more on upkeep if the purchase price is lower, but it'll be doing 25-30k miles a year.
Things I've been looking at (not actual cars but as an example);

I don't tend to worry about MPG too much as if I'm spending a lot of my time in them then I want to enjoy it and any loss in that department will be offset by insurance and tax savings, according to my man maths calculator.
These are the two that I'm proposing to get rid of...

Ideas appreciated.

I guess a german performance estate
So C63 (old 6.2 v8) - may be able to just squeeze into the new C63 with the 4.0 turbo v8.
E63 another choice, would offer the space of a range rover just not the sitting up position (is that important?)
Might be able to squeeze into CLS (style over substance?)

If you fancy the sitting up position I think a grand cherokee SRT could be a giggle - its one car I am considering yeah might not be as well built as BMW etc, but rare. They do handle well for the size of car.
Other options S4 (newer one)
RS4 (although older tech now)
BMW M6 - roomy inside - although not sure if thats too old? Extend warranty get one from BMW would be what I would do if I could.
I have tried not to go too old
Another one Infiniti QX70 ? Can get a v8 in that - although the one for sale on auto trader is certainly not the coloured trim I would choose.
I guess if no V8 - then I would probably choose the S4 or the 340i - how about the BMW M3?

Loads of good options but it definitely needs to be an estate or 4x4, the likes of the M3/M6 or CLS means I'd not have the space.
Jeep SRT would be great, I'd love it, but I do need to give some thought to MPG and I'd imagine I'd be getting single figures most of the time out of that.
Head says 340i Touring, heart is trying to justify something else.

Sub 60k miles so you might be able to stick a warranty on for a reasonable amount - pay monthly and the payments should stay the same rather than increasing if you paid annually and it went over 60k.
A little more modern:

First to come to my mind was a BMW X6, but you won't have the handling of the 435i.
Another one would be an Audi RSQ3 but may not have the luxury you're after. A Golf R estate or Leon Cupra SW would be big enough but again might feel a bit low rent in comparison.
Ultimately I would try an Audi S7 as you get the hatchback boot. A 3.3 Kia Stinger would be in budget and is a very, very good car if lacking badge prestige.

Fast, luxurious, massive boot, cracking value right now and looks great (subjective I know)
It has to be the CLS63:

Dynamically these aren't as much fun as a C63 but would be better than your with your 435i.

That 435i looks awesome!
I was thinking exactly the same. I think I would just like with the lack of space and keep it!! Whats the spec OP? Is that factory kit? Then AC Schnitzer springs which are also sold by BMW and keep warranty. I have put spacers on it so the wheels fill the arches a bit more.
In terms of spec, adaptive suspension, adaptive headlights, M Sport brakes, sunroof, HK audio and a few other bits - it's very well spec'd hence why I'd be sad to see it go.

In that case how about the C43?http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2018...

I think I'd always wish I'd gone for the C63... and be gutted every time I saw one. Can't imagine the 43 being very different from the 435i?I consolidated a while back and now run an Audi RS6 (current model)... prior to that an older Audi RS4.
If you're doing 20-30k miles a year, it won't be cheap, but you don't have to drive it with a heavy right foot (and achieve around 11mpg as a result)... apparently they will do 20mpg ish. Dynamically still not the last word, but still plenty of fun and very useful to boot.
A C63 estate would also be fun, and at the lower end of the depreciation curve, but having driven one the lack of grip might get frustrating as a day to day allrounder. Alpina offer the D3 too which are also bloody good, and will do those miles far more efficiently than most.
Edited to add, apols i missed the budget constraint - albeit if patient, you may find a D3 (3l Biturbo) if patient, and there's lots of C63's at up to that marker. And of course there's the B8 RS4 which definitely comes in on the money - and has a beautiful V8.
