Hi all,

Recently noticed that my Sky system keeps showing `There is an error with your Sky Card - Call xxxxx`. I tried calling and was told to just reset the unit which I did, i.e. reboot. Although this stops the error after 40 mins it comes back again on most channels.

I'm now rebooting the unit every day, re-inserting the card. The unit is an old Sky unit, pre- skyplus.

I thought it was just me, and my old crappy unit, but then my mum is also having the same issue on her set box too.

Anyone else having this issue of late ?

Not having any issues here. Why haven't you upgraded the box? There are loads of used SkyHD boxes kicking around, get hold of one and try that, you'll need to phone Sky to pair the card with a new box.

If problem persists ask Sky for a new card.

I have a SKY Plus unit but need the second cable coming down from the LMB.

Will a Sky plus unit work with out it i.e. if I was to swap units over, pair up cards, or does the unit need this second lead ?

Also, who has Sky Q ? Is this service all broadband based or does it still need the dish ?

You will be able to run the Sky+ box with one lead. You just wont be able to record and watch two channels at the same time.

Its not just the lead, you will need the dual LNB at the dish.

I assumed Sky Q would be broadband based without a dish, not so, you'll need a new dish and lnb which is all part of the installation cost.

I have to say, I'm quite liking the Sky Q and Q Mini boxes, and it worked out about £20 a month cheaper than my old Sky+ system so a bit of a no-brainer.
