I've been playing the spot the ball contests for the last month or two and have had what appears to be a few very near misses. Anyone else here play or indeed do we have any winners?

There's a thread kicking about with a few winners in it.... can't find it tho, can't use the pistonheads search!

Twice been two pixels away, once one pixel away up and down - not even a runner up prize 😭

I’ve played a few times, but never as close as some on this thread. I mostly enter the watch competitions actually, more often than the cars. At 30p or so a pop, I think they’re more worth it.

From memory of the main thread...you have to buy a minimum of 2 tickets to be in with a chance of winning, if you get your 'x' spot on (as decided by a panel of judges not by the ball having been removed from the photo) and another participent picks the same spot, the one with the closest 2nd pick from you both wins first prize.

I'll never play it again that is disgusting
Plus I've never got close as I don't know about football
I'll stick to the lottery which requires no skill
Hate games of skill

I play most weeks never won a car but did win £50 credit once. Seem to either get really close or miles away! I just enjoy playing it more than say the lottery (still play that aswel) and like how they just rock up at your home or work to surprise you would certainly be a nice way to start the day! Guessing with how few videos of car collections there are that most people take the cash option.

This was my results last week

I generally spend a tenner a week which is split a fiver on the lifestyle prizes and a fiver on a nice car with the twenty grand in the boot. I dont drink or smoke so don't begrudge the money and I gave up on the lottery years ago. As someone said its quite nice wondering if a bloke is going to knock on your door that evening with the keys to a 911 wink

If it’s at the airport when I am going on holiday I usually have a go. Never been anywhere near though!

Are you saying there's a stand manned by a person? Female hopefully. hehe

I stopped playing about 5 years ago when one week the expert looked like he had judged the position whilst blindfolded and drunk. It really was like pin the tail on the donkey. I complained about it and the M.D. bloke actually wrote to me and said he was horrified when he saw the result picked as he knew it would have a negative affect on sales from regulars.

Played it again a few times recently after they sent me a free entry following GDPR rules coming in. Very clever.

The rules however almost totally prevent anyone winning with an indevidual ticket or any kind in of spread between efforts.

I stopped playing after quite a few questionable decisions by the 'judges' in terms of ball placement, and the realisation that it's practically impossible to win without spending a small fortune.

You have to pick you spot, and then load it with guesses just 1 pixel apart, so if you happen to get the right pixel, you also have every pixel surrounding covered.

You do that, then the judges go and pick a spot half a mile away where nobody is even looking.

I play most weeks and used to spend a fair bit but have cut back a lot recently. It's got a lot more popular recently (due to their TV ads, heavy online/social presence and lifestyle competition?) thus lowering the odds, so now I just play a couple of tickets weekly, more so for fun than quite as 'seriously'.

Whenever I get the urge to stick £10 on the lottery I try to spend it on this instead... it feels like I have a better chance of winning and looking at the results is always more interesting.

I was 2 pixels away once, I can't remember how much credit I won but it was more than usual as an Xmas special or something... I spent the whole lot the following week confident it must be "my time" and was miles away from a dubious judges decision (IMO)… still quite enjoy it every now and then biggrin

I played a few times when I first heard about it on here. Not really keen on the way the games works to be honest, it's like a weird mix of skill, luck, chance... I'll stick to the Lotto and the odd scratchcard laugh

I'd rather buy a straight forward raffle ticket than this 'game of skill' that is anything but a game of skill really.

Raffle ticket you know you have roughly the same chance as every one else.
