I'm trying to find an old H Y Van, the UK based ones are mostly people importing them and putting a margin on.

I spend a lot of time in France, so would rather buy direct, but can't find the equivalent of autotrader/ generic car sales site for France...

Any suggestions?

Cheers

H prices have gone stupid over the last few years - not just in the UK, everywhere - due to the popularity for streetfood/coffee wagons. There's even people making tupperware trailer fakes...

LeBonCoin is as good as anywhere to start looking, but if you want to find something properly sortie-de-grange, then you really need to be talking to the people who are finding 'em for the guys importing 'em to the UK/Germany/NL en masse, because they're definitely getting first dibs on the good stuff. Most of the stuff they advertise is stuff they've been offered, rather than already own. If they get a bite before the Germans/Cloggies who've also got the same van listed, then it'll get bought and transported.

This guy's worth a chat - he'll be able to find you something worth having without too much hassle. http://www.2cvimports.co.uk/

I s'pose the big question is what you want it for - if you want it for food, then buy one ready-converted. It'll be a load less ballache and cost than finding one and doing it. If you want it for a simple van, then do you really know what you're letting yourself in for? They are dog slow, and a pig for quite a few jobs. Front brakes... <wince>
