Mk7.5 R and a learner license..
Discussion
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend an insurance firm that might insure a learner driver on an 2017 Mk7.5 VW Golf R 2.0T? A close friend of mine is having a nightmare finding one, somewhat understandably. Flux have so fra been the only firm to even offer insurance at a nice £2.5k p/a.
Thanks
Dan.

What would you consider a reasonable price to be for a learner in a 300bhp, £30,000 hatchback favoured by thieves?
Good question. I personally wouldn't attempt to put a learner on it.. my Rover was good enough for me many years ago. I guess as a counter question- is £2,500 a reasonable amount? I don't know, because I've not been in this position before, hence asking here.
Thanks

Surley it would be cheaper and more sensible to buy a small car for £1k and insure them on that? Can anyone recommend an insurance firm that might insure a learner driver on an 2017 Mk7.5 VW Golf R 2.0T? Learning in an automatic?
To clarify. My friend has the R and a full (albeit auto only) license. His fiancee is the learner.
If he's getting such quotes now, he better hold onto his wallet when she actually passes!

Am I missing something? Why does a learner need insurance? Is the Golf R not owned and insured by whoever is teaching them to drive?
I don't follow, sorry. The learner driver is learning with a driving school. Outside of those lessons she wishes to gain experience with other qualified drivers, which I understood means she needs her own policy to be legally allowed to drive.Gassing Station | Finance | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
