My 4 Gran Coupe needs new summer tires, no clue what to get
Discussion
Hi
My car needs new tires. Just found a huge nail in one of them and since it's been 35k miles I don't want to replace only one axle.
I don't know what's recommended. It's an XDrive if that matters. It's not lowered and I daily it so I would appreciate something comfortable and with some life, not just grip grip grip. Open to suggestions for sporty alternatives also.
Any thoughts?

If your on Run Flats ...after 3 years of Michelin PS3 normals bought after 3 weeks of suffering the awful runflats the car came on (bridgestone or contis cant remember) I went back to Runflats with a lot of trepidation. After a mass of googling I went for Goodyear F1 Assymetric 3's they are very ,very good so good I would not bother going back to normals.

Thanks for replies so far! That Michelin PS4 is getting great reviews. Will also search for more about the Goodyear ones.
Yes I'm still on runflats, didn't want to replace them while they were usable, I didn't like their road noise but they were OK
Sorry I typed my answer wrongly and edited ..I have gone back to Run Flats with Goodyear and they are really good. noise is excellant and the crashiness issue is non existentYes I'm still on runflats, didn't want to replace them while they were usable, I didn't like their road noise but they were OK

Fitted a set Of Michelin PS4S on to my F36 435D GC, just done a 3000 mile European road trip.
Tyres were briliiant, what a difference from the awful runflats.
Would highly recommend them.

Is there a significant difference between the PS4 and PS4S? What about price difference?
I ran a 123d on Pirelli RFTs for 6 years and never had an issue with them, but they were 205/50 x 17 so a decent sidewall.
Then I bought a Z4 on Bridgestone RFTs, and they seem awful! No give in the sidewall, but then the rears are 255/35 X 18 so there isn't too much sidewall anyway! Everyone on the dedicated forum recommends fitting non RFTs, so as it isn't a daily I'm going to try that.
My current daily is an E91 that came on 16" Bridgestone RFT winters, so I bought a set of wheels with Pirelli P7 RFT summers and they seem OK, but again they are 225/45 x 17 so have a decent amount of sidewall.
The likely use of your car may have a bearing too - I wouldn't have wanted the OH trying to change a wheel on a dark, wet night! The only 2 punctures I had in my 1 Series happened when it was snowing - RFTs seemed like a great idea both times!
I'm only guessing but I would expect a 4GC to have pretty large rims with a low profile - in which case getting off RFTs might be a good idea. I've read plenty of horror stories about 19s with RFTs cracking/splitting.
But if you want to chase 'Ring times Michelin PS4 seems to be the answer!

Here’s some good analysis of PS4 and 4S
https://youtu.be/aMv64liOqIE
I’ve run both and both are excellent.
4S I currently run on a M3 , PS4 previously on 335i
Not sure why you’d need the 4S unless you’re really driving fast on B roads.

I believe there is. Is there a significant difference between the PS4 and PS4S? What about price difference?
PS4 is a replacement for the PS3. The PS3 isn't super well respected.
PS4S is a replacement for the Super Sport which is very well loved.
I believe the main difference is in the carcass. As in between the PS4 and the PS4S.
PS4S only available in 19 and plus.
