Only had the Cerbera 17 years and this is about my second post. Always an avid reader and so thought I would try alternator swap myself. When removing the pulley tension bolt the spacer fell in to the V. Managed to retrive but not sure if I have put the spacer in to the right place. Can some one check a 4.2 and see if I have got it right or not. I have put is between alternator mounting point and bracket.

Hi Jeremy

I am doing this to my 4.5 and can't get the even-sided throttle body back on without it scraping deeply against the alternator casing.

Do you have the same problem or does the 4.2 have vertically-mounted TBs ?

I am not to much of a mechanic so not real technical. Air intake and fuel rail design on the 4.2 is different to the 4.5 and it is OK for space. Not dealt with a 4.5 so not much help I am afraid.

Thanks

I recently did this and put a magnet on the back of my spanner so the nut would stay in place whilst offering it up.

Just a tip....
