Estate Agent Lies

I have just discovered that my estate agent has been lying to me. 
As a direct result, my completed chain is now in tatters and I am going to lose the property on which my offer was accepted.
I now wish to have nothing further to do with my agent. I will obviously have to consult the contract that we originally signed with them to ascertain the exact details of notice period and further period over which they lay claim to commission if our property is bought by someone whom they may claim to have introduced to us.
The fact remains, however, that they have lied and my sentiments are now to say 'f
k the contract - that was based on the supposition of you being honest'.
I think it only fair under the circumstances that it is torn up, they retain zero claim on any future sale, and that this state of affairs is effective immediately.
I will be confronting them tomorrow morning in all probability. Anyone else had any experience with effecting an immediate termination?

Would suggest you spend a few hours on goggle after typing in Estate Agents Act 1979 - you may find some ammo that relates to your situation that will assist in the morning.
If they agree to an immediate termination get them to put it in writing there and then and take a copy home with you.
If you live in a small town type area you may want to be careful how far you go as I have heard that there are certain people who have been 'blacklisted' by local agents in some of these types of areas, apparently, although I doubt that they would ever do such a thing and that it must all be coincidence that no-one local to some of these will market their property...

We had a 13 week contract , I was unhappy about the service so at 11 weeks I gave them the required 2 weeks notice.
" I'm sorry sir , you can't give us 2 weeks notice until the 13 weeks are up "
Errr.. so that'll be a 15 week contract then...
At the end of 13 weeks the contact will expire anyway so there would be no reason to give notice
