Most reliable used family hatchback for under £6k?
Discussion
Hi guys, looking to replace my 120,000 mile mk3 Renault Clio for something that I can depend on; I have a budget of £5-6k, only need to fit myself and my girlfriend and will be using the car to get to and from work each day (30 minute commute on mostly dual carriageway) as well as for weekend days out. Have had a ton of trouble with the girlfriends R56 Mini Cooper and so do not want to be seeing the inside of any garages for anything other than services and MOTs if possible! Currently shortlisted are; Hyundai i30 (2012 onwards), Kia Cee’d (2012 onwards) and Nissan Juke (2010 onwards). Any other suggestions worth checking out?? Also like the Ford Focus 1.6 zetec tdci but not unless I can get it cheaper than the above. Any experience or advice with any of the cars?? TIA
Do not buy a 1.6tdci Focus that engine is a dog go for the 2.0tdci instead it's a much better engine:

I'd actually take a good look at the Giulietta at this price point they're great value for money & as long as you have a good Independent garage near you then you'll be fine, reliability wise they're no better or worse than pretty much everything in your price range.

Cee'd 3 (with only 1-2 years worth of warranty left I think I'd choose the Alfa's above)

Astra SRI/Elite are cracking value & a decent car too, just make sure you flush the oil every other service to keep the pick up pipe clear.

2.2d Mazda3 Sport although cheap budget for a timing chain replacement (& haggle accordingly) for peace of mind.

The slightly unloved Mercedes CLC is a great reliable option & due to them not being so popular they're a bit of a bargain compared to a 3 series coupe:
