e39 530d power issues.

Hi there,
I've just picked up a 530d touring manual. On the very long drive back I found it is down on power, slow acceleration, nowhere near as as fast as my v40 T4 when they should be similar, it got a bit better as I pushed on but definitely not what I was expecting. I reckon it might be turbo pipes or the maf.
The mpg was good I managed 700 miles out of a full tank and it is smooth and quiet when up to speed so I'm not worried about something major.
I just wondered if you guys had any other ideas?
