I repair clocks, and I'm often asked if I repair pocket watches. I don't, as my eyesight is no longer up to it, and I've never got on with using a loupe/eyeglass. I have several different strengths of reading glasses, and 2 binocular headsets. None are strong enough for watch work.

Rather than just saying "no", I'd like to be able to recommend someone.

Are there any pocket watch specialists out there?

Thanks for the link. I've not been on TZ for a while, as I was spending too much money on Sales Corner!

Looks like I'm in the wrong game going by those prices though. I can remember going to BHI meetings 25 years ago, and the watch guys were always moaning about how little they were paid, while the clock guys seemed pretty content with their lot.
I guess very few people went into the trade at that point, the number of decent watch repairers dropped as people retired. Now there's a skills shortage, and the watch guys have upped their prices to reflect that.

If I wasn't so busy with clocks, I'd seriously consider investing in a decent binocular microscope...
