CIMA Exams by Distance Learning.
Discussion
It's a while since I did my CIMA but when I did I felt that actually gained more from the discussions had during the tutorials than from the books/syllabus as it broadened my views from the business I was operating within so I gained more than just the qualification.
Fortunately I was being sponsored through by my employer so leaving early for the 90 minute drive to college once/twice a week wasn't an issue.
Once I had people reporting to me I always recommended they went down the night school learning route, some did some didn't but it was generally agreed those that did had the same view as me.

Second for BPP (having used both Kaplan & BPP). No point doing the night school option for the certificate level IMO - it's pretty basic and if your son has an interest in pursuing accounting as a career then he should be fine. As mentioned above, get him to find an employer who supports study, makes life a lot easier.
