Hey guys - been looking to buy a 911/car for quite some time but am struggling to pull the trigger on anything....

I have about 50k to spend which puts me in the 997.2 or 991.1 (just about) category....(just out of the 997 gts arena)

For a bit of background, I also have a 964 cab (as well as a mini cooper S that I share) so this is really going to be a weekend toy that is usable/practical...

this is where my dilemma is - I like the 997s but the gen 2 is far too dear imho and the gen 1 interior starting to look dated. I am a little worried about timing with the 991, are prices about to drop like a stone with the 992 coming soon?

Options -

1) Don't look at value and get a 997.2
2) Go with 991 and not worry about potential residuals if i need to sell
3) left field option - get a 997.1 and use spare cash to mod it, bring it up to spec - for example CSR conversion that the RPM boys do (in fact would love to hear if anyone has gone down this route)...

Any other cars I should consider? (I have 2 kids (both sub 3yr) so it would be nice to have 4 seats to fit them in if i need to...)

Thoughts ??

For some reason the 991.1 values are staying stubbornly high I don’t know if it’s because it is the last of the nat asp engines. The other thing bear in mind is the new list price of 992 will likely be up 5% or so which keeps 991 values relatively strong. Plus a 5 month factory shut down this year keeping 991 supply slightly lower than it would be otherwise.
As for used values in 2019 it also depends on your Brexit fallout opinion and sports car market in general - lots of opinions on that on other threads on here.
Summary- with 50k I would try to stretch the budget very slightly and buy a nice 991.1 - but I predict the most popular opinion you get back on this thread will be 997.2.
As for a car with usable 4 seats I have been thinking similar myself, maybe a Macan turbo? I haven’t got round to trying one out yet though - seem to be fairly well regarded on here from what I have read from owners so far.

I'd suggest you go 997.2 C2S as the safe option.

Alternative is a 997.1 GT3 Comfort and retro fit rear seats and belts (as they're double skinned unlike the 997.2 GT3).

I didnt realise about the 5% uptick on the 992 prices.....at the risk of waiting forever......i might wait and see how prices pan out at the end of the summer (when the factory reopens)......

Did not realise you can retrofit rear seats......will look into this.
