Anyone any ideas on the following, very long story cut short: Trying to balance the engine using the laptop. At idle, both throttle pots are within a nats whisker of each other. The more I open the throttle, the reading from Pot 1 increases more than pot 2. By the time Pot 1 is showing 70%, pot 2 is only showing 65%????? What the hell? Tried a new pot, makes no difference. Help. Please........... Joe

Sounds like wear in the throttle linkage, the ball and socket joints develop enough freeplay to cause problems.

Also the spindles which the butterflies and the throttle pots are on may be worn.

This may be what is giving the difference in readings

Have just changed the ball and socket joints, there was a time bit of free play, but not now. Worn spindles you say? How does one diagnose/fix this problem??

Cheers,
