hi all
ive had a couple of 911's a few years ago, and now considering a Gen 1 2.7 manual
ive actually seen a car that sounds pretty good as follows and was wondering about peoples opinions -
2008
silver, with 18" S wheels from Factory
twin tip polished exhaust from factory
Xenons from factory
Leather sports wheel from factory
Heated std seats from factory
top tint screen from factory
stainless side sill plates from factory
NO BOSE
no other buttons apart from the std PSM
car does look pretty immaculate, but i haven't driven it yet

2 owners from new, sitting at 83k
1st service was Official Porsche, then 2 x Oil changes at BOSCH service centre, then 2 x other services at Porsche specialist in glasgow
ive checked and it hasn't had a clutch or the rads replaced
its from an independent UK garage (non specialist) who bought it from the local Official Porsche Centre and is available at £12k - he has had it 6 months and it started at £14k
looking in the classifieds, it seems to be priced pretty well

thoughts???

many thank

I'm not up on Cayman prices but that money would get you a much higher spec 3.2 / 3.4 Boxster.
The 2.7 is fine and revs nicely an is the sefest engine they made in that period, but I would give it a decent try as it is not that powerful compared to a 911 if that's what you're used to
If £12k was my budget, I would consider it more of a compromise to get the 2.7, than getting a Boxster would be vs the Cayman

I have a similar spec on an 07 plate. Bought at 98k last Nov and now on 109k. I've had the rads done and it goes in for front top mounts and springs on Tuesday. Bought for £10.8k and I will have spent about £3k on getting everything sorted.

Great car for the money, not the fastest but loves to rev and sounds great. Oh and it goes round corners pretty well.

I saw a few rough lower mile cars and bought mine knowing I'd need to spend some money to get it sorted. It should now be pretty cheap to run.

I'd say try and negotiate the price down or get a decent warranty thrown in and get it bought!

tbh, im staying away from 3.4's for obvious reasons
i DO though agree that you can get some very nice 3.2 Boxsters for this money and i do love the boxster, BUT the main reason im kind of not looking at them is that i would never have the roof down - lol
as a 53 year old, its just not my thing, so seems a bit of a waste really

thanks Noel,
tbh ive got him down to 12k on the phone as the car is a few miles away
i have been sent ALL the paperwork and high rez images of all parts of the car, so whilst i haven't seen it in the flesh, i basically know everything about it
its just had 2 tyres and an MOT 6 months ago by the OPC (i would get them to re MOT it)
ive also spoken with the Indy who has looked after it and they reckon that clutches on 2.7's can last a lot more than 80k, so that may not be n issue for future
i do reckon as its sat for 6 months, i could get it for 11,500, maybe even a bit less

Surely it would be a waste if you were paying more for the convertible! But it’s obviously your choice. There’s a sorted 987 2.7 Boxster for sale on Boxa forum for £8k. That’s a lot of cash over for your maintenance fund

hi jake
yes ive saw the 2.7 on the Boxster forum and its also been on e-bay
seems very strange though that it hasn't sold - its been for sale since March - same length of time that the one ive been looking at

Think the guy is holding out for a particular price and it’s probably a little more than the market will pay, I get the impression he’s not the kind of seller to drop £500 to shift it

I am thinking about putting my 57 reg 2.7 up for sale soon, same spec to the one you are looking at but mine has the Chrono pack, sport and suspension buttons. Coming up to 95k miles.

Happy to share details, if interested PM me.
