Today is the day my marriage ended and we are starting divorce proceedings. I feel so much remorse and my life has basically crashed down. I have been kicked out the house and I’m currently in a local holiday inn express wondering why I made so many bad decisions.

This morning I was out a walk and came back to my missus who had found my second phone. I have been seeing another lady for about 2 years and this is the first time my wife has known. She sat me down and told me that she had found it and had a look at the messages. I was in shock that she found it but it later erupted into a big argument. I keep having flashbacks of our wedding day and how great it was. I have lost the lady I was meant to protect and cherish due to my own bad decisions.

The icing on the cake is the other lady no longer wants anything to do with me and she has told me that she is wanting to try again with her husband. I support this and will maintain my silence.

Within a few hours I’ve lost everything and I feel so much sadness and guilt. I’m so so sorry for what I done I am genuinely remorseful.

I just had to tell someone as none of my friends or family know about the situation and I’m too embarrassed and disgusted with myself to tell them for now.

It just goes to show you never know what is round the corner and I’m now having to pick up the pieces.

"It just goes to show you never know what is round the corner and I’m now having to pick up the pieces" I dont think this really applies to having a 2 year affair. It was quite predictable.

Getting hit by a bus or getting cancer, that more like not know whats round the corner.

The sorrow & remorse no doubt comes from being caught not from what you did. It wasn't there when you went out this morning after all.

Just in case he regrets the thread as well!

We all make mistakes in life and bad decisions.
Take your time and don’t beat yourself up too much.

Things will work themselves out but please right now you need to find someone to confide in.

You need a hug mate.

Please just stay calm and have a think about someone you can talk too who won’t be judgemental.

It will all be good in the end.

Somebody seems to be in denial here.

If all was roses, you wouldn't have been having an affair, would you? So this is more a question of finally having to face up to the reality that your marriage was in trouble anyway. Cake-and-eat-it never works for long.

Thanks guys I’m just so sorry for what I have done and I’d love the opportunity to fix it but I know that’ll not happen. I’m not looking for any sympathy and all I’m wanting is advice about what steps or processes I can take to help me through the divorce. I cannot imagine myself marrying another lady and I am so remorseful.

What hurt me most was my wife crying and screaming at me. I am sat here a broken man and I just wish I could rewind time back. The other lady I was involved with was a work colleague who has recently secured a new job in another town.

Bad decisions always come back to bite you. I didn’t think my wife would ever find out but sadly she has.

I am not going to comment on shagging around as that is none of my business, but come on if you are going to then this is a school boy error.

I think when you're married and involved in a 2 year affair with another woman who is also married, you could have a reasonably educated guess about what's around the corner.

I know I’m very concerned about how much this is going to cost me financially. I work really hard and I don’t want her getting loads of my money. I have just bought a new car too and I love it. I don’t want to be forced to sell up.

With regards to the money, would it be a good idea to go to the bank early in the morning and withdraw all my money and close the account ? I have plenty of places I could put the money.

Please don’t think I’m being selfish. I just want to avoid being down a financial hole. I’ve suffered enough for my stupidity as it is.

I can well understand how you are feeling. Unfortunately, as you must know, it's largely down to your own selfish actions. As others have said, it's difficult to have too much sympathy for your situation as you've clearly brought it on yourself.

Even so, you really mustn't beat yourself up. What's done is done and can't be undone. Your wife now knows and is very unlikely to be forgiving (unless you're exceptionally fortunate). You do, however, need to start talking to someone else, whoever you can confide in - brother/sister/mother/work colleague etc. As they say, a problem shared is a problem halved.

After that you will have to start looking at finances, how you will keep a roof over your head etc.
