Today’s launch of the new ‘Daily Politics’ airing lunch time.
Very disappointing imo, two politicians and three news hacks airing thier pov. Brexit, hate in politics and drug taking at festivals. Very lightweight superficial more like a group of neighbours having a moan together over the garden fence.
Bring back Daily Politics and give some proper insight into the Political situations and viewpoints.
Dreadful.

The programme is supposed to be more social media friendly:

A BBC press release said:
A new team giving better digital and social coverage - including podcasts - of politics and parliament for audiences who are increasingly getting their news online, especially on mobiles. In an era of concerns about misinformation and ‘echo chambers’ this is designed to bring trusted impartial political coverage to younger audiences

It is absolutely dire, can’t see why any person remotely interested in politics would bother to tune in. I won’t bother having seen the first effort. Andrew neil is booked in for one programme each week apparently.
At least with the old format I used to be able to garner something from the program and form my own opinion from the commentary. This new format gives nothing upon which to form an opinion at all, apart from its true awfulness.

As I understand it, it's designed to appeal to those who aren't remotely interested in politics...

Well it certainly fulfilled its brief.
More dumbing down by the BBC.

I'm not sure the BBC have ever liked him. Probably even less now.

One of the few (only?) impartial political journalists the BBC employed, so of course he was put into semi-retirement.

I watched something earlier that I thought was Loose Women - is that the new show?

What a mess; the studio bit is basically DP with a new name, theme tune and set, but the add-on stuff is awful and the studio discussion is attempting to cover too many subjects to the detriment of all of them.

It's turned into a cross between Loose Women and the Victoria Derbyshire show. The Beeb obviously think that dumbing things down will bring in more viewers.

I watched the second edition today, giving it a chance to bed in so to speak. Come away having watched and it’s simply lacking in engagement, superficial, impossible to be able to form ones own opinion on any political discussion within the program. Political programs are supposed to engage the audience imo, to offer some insight into the latest political issues to a depth that allows an audience to form a view.
It’s a disaster and needs to be shelved in a dusty cupboard.

Pretty sure the BBC don't like him. If he gets in they will fear both massive salary controls and increased govt control in the licence fees and output. Socialists/marxists don't like press freedom, it informs the people too much of inconvenient truths.

Love or hate the Tories, they don't interfere with the press (much).

Believe his hosting the Friday edition, if he can’t spice it up and bring some reality into it!!
