Had a bit of a moment on the way home last night, gave it a bit of welly on a damp dual carriageway (from standing start), then when the racing cam hit, the back end started fishtailing all over the place! It was wet, but no standing water and it's a grippy surface, I was just very glad it was a straight. I think I'll be a bit more careful from now on... I think it was just the power delivery that did it, I'll have to be extremely careful overtaking in the wet now. Also when the tyres wear I think I might go for Toyo TR-1's (what's the difference between these and TS-1's?) as they might be better in the wet.

TS1-R's are supposed to be a bit longer lasting and have a tad more grip.

Bob,

T1-Rs, very good in damp conditions.

Inspire loads more confidence, but you'll still unstick them if you nail it on a wet roundabout!

The elise (and exige or course) is so light you just have to be a little bit steady in the wet.

I'm sure T1-Rs have got me out of a few tight spots though!

Personally I found the T1R worse than the T1S. The sidewalls were marginally stiffer but you can load them up in the same way so the ultimate grip levels were less in the dry. In the wet there isn't much in it and as a wet weather road tyre they are pretty good. They are c.rap compared to Yoko's though and absolute c.rap as a track tyre. They are cheap though...

99% of my driving is on the road, so I'm not really bothered about track performance if it will help me on a wet country lane. The AO48's are fantastic in the dry though!

I was thinking of the Advans, the 48's are always going to be way better on track. The Toyos are good under braking and acceleration, it's when you come to turn that they are not so great.

Been down this one before,

T1-Rs cost me £240 for the set. (111s sizes)

Sorry, for me it was a no brainer. As a road tyre for the many varied conditions you are likely to encounter they are great.

Yeh they'll never be as grippy as all out Yoko track rubber or even Advans.

But if, like me, you need to watch the pennies then they are hard to beat.

If not, don't mess about, buy a set of Advans.

Oh and a spare set of wheels for the track with 048s!
