Cheques: When did you last write one.
Discussion
I was pondering on this earlier on. And in my case its 5 years ago. Interestingly (well ok it was to me ) I came across this article which if correct is quite timely. The October 2018 timeline

I genuinely don't think I have been able to order a cheque book for a couple of years

I reckon it must be four years at least.
Last ones I remember were for school trips for my son whilst at Primary school. The Secondary school uses ParentPay, an online system.
We do still receive the occasional cheque from relatives etc., which is a complete PITA, as it needs a trip to the bank to deposit. The Lloyds app now allows you to scan it in on your phone, but not had a chance to use.
With ApplePay, I’ve found I never carry coins with me either. Always have a few notes in my wallet, but only place I really use them is the barbers. Everywhere else, including the local, take ApplePay or card.

The Lloyds app seems to work well. I’ve used it a few times and they actually seem to clear quicker than taking them to a branchLast ones I remember were for school trips for my son whilst at Primary school. The Secondary school uses ParentPay, an online system.

I still received a surprising number from clients (all older generation) and still seem to have to write a fair few for kids football clubs etc. I think it will be a few years before they die out. I'll be glad when they do though.
I still get around 50 a month from the older clients. There isn't an alternative to them so they will be around a while longer.

Monday, paid my electric bill by cheque at the post office.
Can I ask why? DD is always far cheaper. Is it simply that you have an objection to the concept of DD?Eric Mc said:

Personally? I've got one I need to get written and in the post - probate. I've also got a couple I've been given (one b'day from my mother, one cashback from a washing machine purchase) that need to go to the bank.
My last cheque book accidentally went through the wash in a pair of trousers (money laundering
) That was around 15 to 20 years ago, never bothered getting it replaced. Initially there was the odd occasion it might have been useful but honestly I’ve never felt the lack of it and now they are just piece of banking history. My father at 89 still uses them but it’s just because he always has done.
