WHY IS MY CAR NOT SELLING

Hi guys an gals, iv had my Cerby for sale for prob 3 months without a sniff, its up at £16,750 , its a 98 yellow , grey leather , spiders , sports exhaust , full dealer history , full new clutch , and had the seats recovered,40,000 miles , why am i not getting any interest, Its been in top marques ,autotrader, website, pistonheads, iv even made a google link so if anyone types TVR cerbera into it it brings up my car on the links on the right. Help?
the problems as I see it:-
The low end prices of cerbs are starting to slow ie how low can they go. That then starts to make the cars higher up the chain slow down as well but they start to stray into each others price bands.
ie why buy a 98 4.2 with 40K when you can buy a 4.5 with 30K for another 2K (in a more popular colour etc...). (I know 4.2s are 'just as good'.....)
Whilst I like them in yellow my wife wouldnt let me buy one! So that hits the saleability a little.
Also - 40K is where a cerb engine COULD be starting to get a little tired.
Why dont you look at selling the wheels with tyres for £400 with a swap for good 17s with god tyres. That sort of thing can help you release capital out of it and wont make a difference to selling it? (Maybe).

Having just bought another Cerb, I'd suggest it's a price thing - I've just paid several thousand pounds under your price for a tidy 98 4.2 with 39,000miles, and a full service history from TVR and a couple of indies. I honestly think that any 4.2 with FSH and 40K is not going to fetch over £15K at the moment - check out Autotrader to see how inexpensively they can be picked up for. Try Ebay - although it does tend to attract some idiots, I've sold my last four cars there, mainly due to the high hit rate (especially over weekends). Make sure you post loads of good pics and you should be fine.
not sure about things not selling a dealer near me has managed to shift a 4.2 cerb, a tuscan and grifith in the last 10 days or so!
Ive also just managed to sell my house in 3 weeks, two years ago it wason the market for 10 months with not a sniff. - now If I can persuade the wife we can live in a caravan I may have the stake money for the long awaited cerbera!

I just sold a car on e-bay for 2k more than it was worth, i would fully reccomend it.
Alternatively call classic and sportscar magazine, ask if they are interested for a feature. Then you get a free half page advertisement, using this I had about 90 calls for my Viper.
I would put your car up at £14,900 if you are serious about selling.

I would rather keep hold of it than let it go for 15k , if i sold that for 15k that would mean i have lost 13k in 18 months on 2 different Cerbs.

I hope this post is moot and you sold it over the weekeend. Otherwise, unfortunately I think this just goes to show that you are unlikely to recoup costs of adding Spiders and other mods etc, when it comes to re-sale, and I hate to say it but yellow is a like-it-or-loathe-it colour which probably limits your market.
As Benno says if you are serious about selling you are probably going to have to bite the bullet and drop below £15k. I did and my 98 4.2 Blue cerb, sold within two days of advertising it on here.
Unfortunately that just seems to be where the Cerb resale market is about now, and there seems to be a lot coming up for sale at the moment...

£15K does sound too low. If it really is a good one then £16K should get a sale?! If it is one of the best then chane your ad to underline that and wait for your full asking price.
Surely there must be someone lurking round these threads who is after a cerb and would rather pay nearer £16K for a good one rather than 5 K more at a garage?!

i've seen a lot of these posts lately...
Basically 2 reasons..
1, the country is slowing down economically - people are spending less.
2, somethings only worth what someones willing to pay.
So, the only thing you can do is either wait for someone to come along that wants your car and is willing to pay what you want, or find another way of moving it..

don't sell it, put on Nitrons and get an ECU chip
