Next Tuesday there’s a strike at the factory I’m based at. So it looks like I’m going to have to run a picket line. Never done that before.

Thing is I’m in Spain but I don’t speak a word of Spanish. Plus I’m going to rollup in a car with UK plates and the steering wheel on the wrong side. They’re then going to give me some long spiel in Spanish about why I shouldn’t cross their picket line which I won’t understand and I’ll then try to cross. Apparently these things can get quite feisty over here and a brick through a window’s not unknown.

It’s not my battle as I don’t work in the factory. I’m just an IT contractor. Plus I don’t really want to take a day off and loose the pay.

Any ideas for a plan of action? I was thinking a baseball bat on the passenger seat and a “just back from Iraq” sign – just married style on the back of the car

Step out of your car and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the pickets in a symbolic display of international working class solidarity.

What and kiss goodbye to a grand? No thanks pal. You stick to your socialist utopian fantasies and I’ll stick to getting money in the bank.

stay overnight, claim the hourly rate as you sleep, work late to get work finished then have day off as they all strike.

you get paid, and don't cross in show of solidarity. (well almost)

Remove exhaust system from car and 100 meters from picket line drop gear and drive as fast as you can while pushing your horn. They will think your mad/going to kill them/run scared/think your on there side breaking in etc.
If they find your just a scab they will respect you for being a nutter.

If there like the french fishermen watch out for flares. People I sail with tried to get into a habour (Cherburg) and got flares shot at them and various other things thrown.

Wander in anywhere between 11am and 3pm - they'll all be off having a siesta.

Seriously,

rent a car, the cheapest in the fleet, and get it properly insured, it will cost you about £30, waltz past them whilst giving the universal one fingered salute and laugh at them as they try and kick the car.
