A what did I just see thread for a WW2 twin prop plane that just flew over Welwyn Garden City heading for Hatfield. I think it was either a Mosquito or Beaufort, it certainly wasn't hanging around.

It was painted in green camouflage and its fuselage markings ended NP, of that I'm certain as it was low enough to read them, but didn't pay attention to the engine cowlings / nose cone area sadly.

No Beauforts or Mosquitos around that I know of, was it not the BBMF Dakota?

I didn't think the Blenheim was very active, it is based at Duxford though. Cool if that was it!

Definitely not the Dakota, I'd have recognized that, and the wing root to fuselage is wrong for what I saw.

Blenheim definately took off from Duxford this morning to go somewhere.

Possibly Goodwood.

I saw something that matched this description at about 12:50pm today, heading NW to the south of Wycombe. It was already heading away from me when I spotted it, and it was too far away to identify.

Good shout, it’s Revival this weekend!

Do you know it’s take off time? My spot was about 12:45. Duxford is only 20 or so miles up the road.

Can’t be the same aircraft, my spot was about 5 minutes before yours and it would have to get round Luton and Northolt.

The useful flightradar shows that the Duxford Bolingbroke/Blenheim was out and about yesterday

There are no flying Beauforts anywhere in the world. In fact, there are very few in existence.

Currently, there are no flying Mosquitoes in the UK.

It sounds like the Blenheim to me.

Yes, it was parked up on the infield at Goodwood Revival all weekend.

Flew over my house today. I didn't see it but heard it's distinctly muted rumble sound - very different to a more common radial such as a Pratt and Whitney.

Isn't the 'Blenheim' actually a Bolingbroke with a Blenheim MkI nose bolted on the front?

It is indeed. It's based on the batch of Bolingbroke bits and pieces brought to the UK from Canada by Ormond Haydon-Baillie in 1975.
